18 Months Old!

Kaden turned 18 months old on the 24th and had his checkup on the 28th.  He’s not 31 1/2 inches tall and weighs 23.6 pounds.  He got two more shots and was angry about it like usual.  But he forgot all about it when we went down the slide again on the little play place things they have in the waiting room.  He loooves slides.  We go back in a month for more shots cuz I decides not to get them all done at the same time.

Kaden’s walking skills are getting a lot better.  He’s getting pretty speedy. He finally likes to play in his sandbox too… and eat rocks out of it.

Finally Walking!

Well Kaden is walking FINALLY! :-) He’s still a little slow but he’s doin it, yay!

First Molar

It’s been a while since I last updated.  Not a lot has gone on.  Kaden’s first molar came in and he’s currently working on a few other teeth as well.  Still not quite walking on his own yet, but getting close.  He walked across the living room on his own last night though. He can do it pretty well, you just have to make him do it.  He gets excited and goes too fast and loses his balance a lot. He’d rather just skip to running.  He’s eating pretty much everything we eat now.  Except spaghetti. I don’t know why he doesn’t like it cuz he liked it before in the baby food jars.  Oh well.  He still doesn’t say any words other than “Momma.”  He doesn’t even say “Dadda” anymore like he used to.  So that’s all he says. He just squeaks and squeals.  I don’t know why. :-/

Here’s some recent pictures.

Kaden’s First Vacation

We took Kaden on his first real vacation to Colorado over 4th of July weekend.  It was a loooong drive but he did very well in the car.. until we got lost anyways. :-P You can read more about that adventure on ShinyDuck. He slept off and on and talked a lot in the backseat.  We had to stop and feed and change him and stretch our legs every so often.  We had to stay in a hotel that night and got to my uncles cabin in the mountains the next day.  Kaden liked to sit out on the porch and look around.  I think he liked the mountains.

You can see picture of Kaden on the trip here.

15 Month Check Up

Yesterday I took Kaden to his 15 month check up.  He got 2 more immunization shots and was pretty unhappy, like usual.  He’s now 21 pounds and 30 inches long.  He was at the -1 percentile for weight at his 12 month appointment and is now at the 6th percentile.  So he’s improved a lot since then.

We went to Red Robin with my Dad on Father’s Day.  Kaden got a nice blue balloon and loved it.  He finally popped it yesterday though.  I was surprised it even lasted that long.

He is mastering drinking through a straw.  He’s pretty good.  Except he doesn’t really know when to stop.  :-P

Here’s a few recent pictures.

Kaden’s First Sleep Over

Kaden had his first sleep over without us last weekend.  He went to Overland Park and stayed with Grandma and Grandpa Smith and got to visit lots of family.  He did really well and had lots of fun.  They took him to the petting zoo and I hear he didn’t care for the goats too much.

He also got his first professional haircut a few weeks ago.  He did pretty well.  They blew bubbles for him to look at while they cut his hair.  So he looks like a little boy again with his little boy haircut.

We’ve gone to the pool a few times with Kaden.  He doesn’t like the cold water very much but he gets used to it after a while.  He likes sitting in his floaty though.

Grandma Pat brought over a lady bug sand box for him a while back.  I finally went to Lowe’s and got sand for it and of course, he hates it.  But I guess he’s still a little young for that.

We went to Riverside Park a few weeks ago.  They have fountain things little kids run around in.  He didn’t like it too much but he watched. :-P   So we went and played on the playground instead. He likes to swing.

Kaden’s got one more tooth since I last updated.  So he now has 4 on the top and 4 on the bottom.  He still isn’t walking on his own yet.  He walks along all the furniture and is now walking when we hold just one of his hands.  He’s still working on the whole balance thing.

He has a few words he says.  He says “Momma,” “Dadda,” “Baba”(for bottle) and his word for ‘light’,'hi’ and ‘bye’ are the same, he says, “ah.”  He waves with his hi and bye “ah” and points at the light with his light “ah.”  He also knows what “no” means cuz he shakes his head when I tell him no.  He doesn’t listen very well though.  :-P

One year old and stuff

I know I haven’t updated in a long time. A lot has gone on. Kaden’s first birthday was March 24th and we went to Hooter’s.  He liked it for the most part until they sang to him, he got scared I think haha.   We got him a little cake that looked like a cheeseburger and he loved it.  The sugar made him a little hyper though.  :-P   He finally figured out how to stand up on things.  So he’s been doing that non stop.  Problem is he hasn’t quite figured out how to get back down.  So he stands up in his crib, gets tired and mad cuz he’s standing so we have to go in and lay him down haha.  He’s getting a little better though.  He hasn’t gotten anymore teeth yet.   I switched his doctor cuz the one we had before was less than informative.  Turns out we were feeding him too much formula and not enough jarred food which she didn’t tell us.  So he’s been eating a ton of that and is loving it. Kaden also had his first Easter since he came a day after Easter last year.  We went to Arlington and he got to find some eggs. I think that’s about all that has gone on recently.  I’ll try to update more often.

Here’s a video and some recent pictures.

Almost one year old

Kaden will be turning one year old in two weeks!  We will be taking him to Hooter’s for his party so he can have his picture taken with the hot babes and brag to all of his friends.

Kaden has his one year checkup the day after his birthday and has to get more shots.  :-(   He still isn’t crawling but does his army crawl thing  and has gotten pretty speedy.  We’ve had to put the gate up in the stairs and put covers in all the outlets.  He also has his 7th tooth coming in, 4 on top and 3 on the bottom.

We spent this last weekend in Overland Park so Kaden got to visit all his family and play with his cousins, he had fun.

Playing with the kitty

Kaden and I went to my friend Mike’s house again the other day.  Kaden likes to watch the cats.  He laughs at them too.

Here’s some pictures of him playing at Mike’s.

10 Months Old

Kaden turned 10 months old on the 24th!  He is doing well and has been trying lots of new foods.  He’s tried potatoes, scrambles eggs, and even pizza!  He liked all of them.  He has oatmeal for the first time today.  He’s neutral towards it, it’s not real exciting like the other stuff.  :-P   He also saw a cat for the first time the other day too.  We went over to my friend Mike’s house who has my old cat, Wazowski, that we got rid of before Kaden was born.  So Kaden got to meet his older brother haha.  He didn’t really know what to do with the kitties, but he liked to watch them.  He tried petting the little one but it was more like hitting haha, he’ll learn.  His four teeth are still coming in and you can see them really well now.  I don’t think he’s gotten any more yet, but he never lets me look.  :-P   He is still gettin around pretty well.  Still not exactly “crawling” since he has no traction on the wood floors and hes knees just slide out from under him.  He’s going to have some strong arms though.  :-P

Here’s a video of him getting excited to see his juice and his most recent pictures.
