Baby Smith

Kaden is still at the hospital in NICU but is doing very well. He’s doing everything they said he needed to do to come home. But they’re taking their sweet time in letting him come home. They want us to come stay the night with him at the hospital for 2 nights before he can come home which is dumb plus it would be really hard for Chad to do that with work. We’re going to try to bring him home tonight without having to do that. I’ll update again later and let you know how that goes.

Kaden decided to surprise us by coming a month early. He was born March 24th at 1:18 A.M weighing 4 pounds and 15.2 ounces and is 16 and 3/4 inches long. He gets to stay in NICU for a while, still not sure for how much longer but he is doing really well. I finally came home from the hospital last night. I have to keep going back and try to feed him. We are trying to get him to breast feed. So far he’s going pretty good but still doesn’t quite get it and gets worn out pretty fast and falls asleep. I’m going back up to try again here in a bit so we’ll see how he does this time.

We had our first baby shower in Overland Park with Chad’s family last night. It went well and Kaden got lots of neat toys and of course, more clothes. So that means I get to do more laundry. Blah. But oh well. Thanks to everyone that came out to the shower! It was good to see everybody. We went to Josh and Brandee’s afterwards and Kaden got to hear his little cousins playing and I think he’s getting anxious to come out and play too.

We have another shower here at our house this Saturday. So I’m sure I’ll be busy cleaning the house and whatnot. I’m sure he’ll get lots more good stuffs so he better hurry and get here so we can play with them!

So I’m still trying to get all of Kaden’s clothes and blankets and stuff washed. I didn’t realize how many clothes he has! (Thanks to Grandma Pat who keeps bringing things over.) Especially socks. I think he has more socks than I’ve ever had in my life, and he’s not even here yet. I bet he’s got about 100 pairs. I don’t even have Nike, Reebok or Gap socks, I am jealous. Oh well, he better be a happy little baby.

Today Kaden turned 33 weeks old. So now he should be a little over 4 pounds and over 17 inches long. He is losing his wrinkled skin and his bones are hardening. It’s getting close to time for him to come play with us!!

No new news other than that. He’s been really active lately. He must be exercising or something. Today I’ve been washing all his clothes and blankets in the baby detergent so they’ll all be nice and clean for him when he gets here.

Today Kaden turned 32 weeks old. So now he should be 3.75 pounds and be 16.7 inches long. He should also have fingernails and toenails and real hair. I’m supposed to gain about a pound a week from now on. Half of that going to Kaden.

Went to the doctor yesterday for my regular check up. Everything still looks good. So I go back in 2 weeks. Other than that, nothing new to report. Still healthy!
