Kaden Taylor

Today Kaden had his 9 month checkup.  It went well and he didn’t scream too much this time hehe.  He weighs 15 1/2 pounds and is 28 inches long now.  His head looks a lot better now so we’re not really worried about it too much anymore.  He goes back for his next appointment the day after his first birthday and has to get shots again. 

This was Kaden’s first Christmas.  It was pretty exciting.  We had my dad’s side of the family over at our house on Christmas Eve and Kaden opened presents for the first time.  He liked to tear the paper up but he just wanted to play with it.  He got a lot of toys.  Then we left early Christmas morning and went to Overland Park to see Chad’s family.  We opened more presents there and then headed to St. Joe, Missouri to Chad’s uncle’s house for the anual stir fry thing.  Kaden got to play with his cousin Leora that he hasn’t seen in a long time . There was a lot going on so of course he didn’t want to take a nap so he got kinda grouchy.  He slept most of the way home though.   We still haven’t had Christmas with Mom yet cuz she has been in Colorado for the past week.  We’ll probably do it tomorrow or sometime this week.   Kaden’s third tooth popped through on the top the other day.  He’s pretty excited about it I think.  I think that’s about it that has gone on recently.

We’ve been keeping Kaden pretty busy this weekend.  Friday night we went to Portrait Innovations to get Christmas pictures taken.  I made the appointment 2 weeks ago but for some reason they didn’t have us scheduled.  So we waited forever.  They turned out pretty good so I’ll get them posted once we get them put on the computer.  After pictures we went to my uncle’s house.  He was dressed up as Santa and Kaden cried.  Haha.  Kaden got to play with his cousin and I think he had fun.  Last night Kaden took his first bath in the sink without his tub since he’s been sitting up by himself.  He liked it and played with toys.  Tonight we’ve been playing a lot with some new toys.

Kaden can finally sit up on his own now!! I’m so excited!! He still tips over occasionally but not much.  We sat on the floor and played with toys for a long time this afternoon.  I think it wore him and he got cranky so he’s napping now.  We’ll sit up more later.  He’s getting verrrry mobile now.  He’s not quite “crawling” but he definitely gets around.  Sorry about the short update, but there’s nothing else new to report.

I noticed Kaden has his second tooth poking through right next to his other one this week.  I almost didn’t notice it cuz he never lets you see.  Grandma Pat brought over a bunch more toys the other day.  They’re mostly toys he can’t play with quite yet though.  She brough a lot more books over too so we’ve been reading stories.  We need a bookshelf or something pretty bad.  We’ve got this huge stack of books on Kaden’s dresser that are really in the way.  She brought over one of those Bumbo seats too.  It’s purple but oh well.  Kaden likes it but he tries to get out of it sometimes so we gotta watch him.  He’s still not sitting up by himself yet.  We’re getting better and the crawling thing though.  I don’t think it’ll be too much longer on that.

Today Kaden turns 8 months old, hooray!  He’s still not sitting up or showing any signs of sitting any time soon.  I think he’s too lazy to sit haha.  He either just leans back or folds up.  He isn’t quite crawling yet either.  He scoots a little but mostly just rolls around.   No more teeth have popped though yet, just the one. It’s getting bigger though so you can see it pretty easily when he smiles.  It’s pretty funny looking.  We went to Chili’s last night and I ordered a drink that came with an orange slice on the side of the cup.  Kaden was getting restless so I decided to see if he would like an orange to suck on.  I had expected to see the kind of face he made when he tried the lemon a few weeks back.  But, he LOVED it.  We couldn’t take it away from him without him screaming.  So, he of course, got his way and got to suck on the orange slice almost the whole time we were there because I didn’t feel like having him screaming in the middle of the restaurant.  By the time we left there wasn’t much left of the orange slice, he somehow managed to eat almost the whole thing with his one tooth haha.  Not entirely sure if babies are supposed to have oranges or citrus fruits…but it didn’t seem to bother him any.  I guess we’ll see.

Not much else has gone on since I last posted.  Kaden got to eat his bottle by himself like a big boy the other day.  Usually one of use holds him while he eats but I was super busy and Kaden has been holding his bottle on his own now for a while so I decided I’d let him eat by himself.  He was fine and ate it with no problem except he doesn’t know to stop sucking when it’s empty haha.  So we still gotta keep an eye on him when he eats by himself, plus I don’t want him choking or anything either.

Kaden’s first tooth popped though last week.  He still doesn’t like anyone to see it though.  He gets mad when you try to look at it.  Oh well.  My birthday party was Saturday night so Kaden had his first sleep over at Grandma Pat’s house.  He did very well and she can’t wait to have him stay again sometime.  Chad doesn’t ever want Kaden to leave again, he missed him too much.  I see this being a slight problem in later years… haha.

That’s about all that’s new, still not crawling or sitting.  His sitting is slowly improving I guess.  We added bananas to the list of foods Kaden likes. Well, there hasn’t been anything he hasn’t liked.  Except for lemons.  I let him try my lemon slice that was on my water cup at La Mesa.  He made the funniest face haha.  Haven’t really taken many pictures recently.

Here’s all the recent stuff.

This was Kaden’s first Halloween this year.  He didn’t get to do much except help pass out candy.  He still got to dress up in his tiger costume though.  Other than that there’s not really anything new.  Still not sitting and still not crawling and still no teeth although I think one on the bottom is trying to poke through.  He has been eating fruits. So far he’s tried pears, prunes and peaches and likes them all.  He gets pretty upset when he can’t have anymore.

Almost 7 months old and still haven’t quite figured out the sitting up thing.  We practiced some more the other night.  He’s gotten a little better but still can only sit up for a few seconds.
